SciList Update

This download provides the latest version of SciList.exe (3rd September, 2009) and some associated files.

Please read and perhaps print these instructions before you start. Make sure you perform step 4 below before using the updated SciList.

The download contains a compressed version of SciList.exe.
It is only useful to clients who have an existing SciList. It will not work as a demonstration version.

Precautionary

Back up the entire SciList folder before updating. (Nothing should go wrong during the update, but we're dealing with computers remember)

Update Steps

1. With SciList closed, back up the existing SciList folder

2. Click this link to download SciList as a plain zip file (sciupdate.zip - 2.4 MB).
Save it to your SciList folder.

3. Unzip the files from SciUpdate.zip into the SciList folder by right-clicking the SciUpdate.zip file and clicking Extract files here, allowing them to overwrite existing program files

4. Run SciList. You may see activity as files are automatically updated

5. Then do these things in this order:

a) Click the Purchase Orders button - this will force a file update to the new format. Other files will update when you open windows etc.
b) Run Utilities > Update Sub-Location List - reads your sub-locations into a lookup table. Only needs doing once
c) Run Utilities > Check Data Integrity - strips out duplicate data, empty records etc.
d) Go to File > Local Settings and check the data in the fields. A new email tab is provided. (tick Activate Email to enable the tab)

6. At some point, not urgently, you should download updated example files (with .tpe extension) to replace those in the First Aid folder of SciList. These files are used when a file repair is done using TpsFix. (Explained in the printed user guide). These files are compressed in a .zip format and require uncompressing.
