Student History

Student History shows every result a student has recorded, gathered from all of the carnivals she has competed in - not just the current one.

Opening it

From the list of students, highlight a student and click History.

What is displayed

The student's name appears at the top, and every result found for her is listed below.

Column

Shows

Date

The date of the carnival the result belongs to.

Event

The name of the event.

Level

The age group or year level of the event, as it was at that carnival.

Gender

The gender of the event.

Place

The place awarded.  Where the competitor took no part, DNS, DNF or DSQ appears here instead of a place.

Performance

The time, distance or points recorded, whichever the event is measured by.  It is blank where there is no performance to show, such as for a DNS.

Points

The points the result earned.

Record

Ticked where the performance set or equalled a record.

The list is arranged by event and then by date, so where a student has competed in the same event over several years those results sit together and her progress is easy to follow.

How results from earlier carnivals are found

Each carnival holds its own separate record of a student, so SportsTrak has to recognise that those separate records are the same person.  It does this by matching the Surname, Given name, Initial and Date of Birth, and keeps a link for each student it has identified.

These links are created and maintained by Check Related Data.  If you click History for a student who has not been linked yet, a message says so and invites you to run the check first.

Accurate and consistent Dates of Birth are what make this work.

If a student's date of birth was entered differently at an earlier carnival, or was left out altogether, SportsTrak cannot tell that the two records are the same girl and those earlier results will not appear.  The same applies to a change of surname.  Where a student appears to be missing history you would expect, check her details in the earlier carnival.
