Lynx

Overview

This utility creates the data files required by the Lynx timing system and then reads the timed placings back to SportsTrak where the results are processed, determining the points etc.

Communicating with Lynx

SportsTrak does not communicate directly with Lynx.

It saves the important information in text files that are readable by Lynx, and in return, can read text files created by Lynx.

For this to work there has to be a folder where SportsTrak can place these files.  If Lynx and SportsTrak are on the same network they can use the same folder, as shown in the diagram.

If a common folder is not possible, these files can be transferred via memory stick.

The utility does two things:

A - Creates PPL, SCH and EVT text files to go to Lynx

PPL is a file that lists People, that is a list of students

SCH is the Schedule of Events

EVT is a list of events with competitors

B - Receives and processes LIF results data from Lynx

LIF contains actual results
